Specifically for Black Flag I think the changes they did to the keyboard and mouse keys to be exactly right. AC2 on PC is probably the ugliest game in the entire franchise nowadays. Colours are really washed out, draw distance and shadows are terrible, and textures are meh. The only thing it still has over the remaster is 60 fps. If you want to go PC I recommend you look into reshade to at least make the colours more saturated.
It's an Xbox controller and it has worked with all the other AC titles that I've played (Origins, Syndicate, etc.) In fact, I can quite BF and open Origins and my controller will work, but for some reason, it only lets me use the keyboard when playing Black Flag. Both were purchased through Steam.
You can use controller emulators. They work on 90% of games. I use JoyToKey but for much older games so you may want to try one called TocaEdit or anything more recent. TocaEdit people have recommended particularly for Assassins Creed I and II. And if it shows it's for an Xbox 360 controller, it should still work for the Xbox One controller.
Actually it doesn’t have trigger effects. Look at the back of the box on the physical copy. Games that have trigger effects read, “vibration function and trigger effect supported”. The box for Assassin’s Creed Mirage only says, “vibration function supported”, like Trepang2 and Remnant 2 which also do not have trigger effects.

Just to be clear, though, none of that is official stuff from Ubisoft, so I can

The PC version of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla now supports PlayStation’s DualSense controller, according to VGC. While Sony’s default PS5 controller can be used on PC, not many games utilise its unique features. However, thanks to a recent update, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla now uses the pad’s adaptive triggers when aiming.
